In my work I attempt to portray the human figure as both a vulnerable being and a force of nature. The liveliness and impulsiveness of our animal nature can serve to counteract the smothering self-consciousness of contemporary life. I am interested in those mysterious and startling moments when the human animal looks out from behind the mask of civilization.

I have recently begun concentrating on lithography and monoprinting as my main ways of creating images. In both mediums I am directly involved with developing and printing the images on the press by hand. For me, I find that this process of working helps me to think through and resolve my ideas differently than I might have in paint.
